Mageia 4 Beta 2 Available For Testing

By Andrew Powell, published 17/12/2013 in News

Mageia 4 Beta 2 is now available for testing!

For those unfamiliar with the Mageia distribution, it's a community powered fork of the commercial Mandriva distribution. Mageia was only forked back in September 2010 but has already enjoyed a nice amount of popularity and userbase. See the DistroWatch entry for more information.

My personal experience with Mageia, in previous versions, was that it was a surprisingly great all-round, stable distribution with very few quibbles. Plus, you get the Mageia Control Center (fork of the Mandriva Control Center of course), which is simply a wonderful GUI administrative tool and gives you control over many components of your system.

As for the newly released beta version, more information and downloads can be found on the Mageia Blog article. Please keep in mind it is testing software and any bugs found should be reported in the appropriate manner.

However a full release is planned for February 2014, which we'll be sure to give a more in depth review on when it lands.
